Privacy notice

Last updated: 30 September 2026

This notice explains what personal information I collect when you visit this website, book a session or work with me, how I use it and what your rights are. Your information is stored securely and handled in line with UK data protection law.

Who I am

I'm Lauriane Thompson and I provide online therapy sessions. I'm responsible for the personal information described here (in legal terms, I'm the "data controller"). If you have any questions about it, email me at laurianethompson.psychologie@gmail.com.

What I collect

  • When you book a session: your name, your email address and anything else you choose to write in the booking form.
  • If we work together: the notes I keep about our sessions, and what you tell me about your health and wellbeing. Information about your health is a "special category" of personal data under UK law, and I treat it with particular care.
  • Payments: records of the sessions you've paid for, which I need to keep for my accounts.
  • This website: it uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. It's hosted by Vercel, which processes basic technical information, such as your IP address, to deliver the page securely.

Why I use it

  • To arrange sessions and reply to you.
  • To provide therapy and keep appropriate records of our work.
  • To meet my legal, professional and financial obligations.

In legal terms, I rely on providing a service you've asked for, on my legal obligations (for example, keeping financial records) and, for health information, on the provision of health care under a duty of confidentiality.

Who else sees it

I don't sell your information or use it for marketing. A few services I use to run my practice process some of it on my behalf:

  • Cal.com, for booking sessions
  • Doxy.me, for secure video sessions
  • Google (Gmail), for email
  • my bank or payment provider, when you pay for sessions

Some of these companies are based outside the UK. When your information is transferred abroad, it's protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

Like many therapists, I may discuss my work in clinical supervision. When I do, I don't share details that could identify you.

Confidentiality and its limits

What you share stays between us. The only exceptions are if I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, or if I'm legally required to share information. I'll explain this fully in our first session.

How long I keep it

I keep session notes for seven years after our work ends, in line with common professional guidance, and financial records for as long as tax law requires. After that, I delete them securely.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
  • ask me to correct anything that's wrong
  • ask me to delete your information, unless I'm required to keep it
  • object to how I use it, or ask me to limit it
  • ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere

To do any of this, email me at laurianethompson.psychologie@gmail.com. I'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please tell me first so I can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
